Ask an Expert - Forum > Drawing paper - alternative to BFK paper

Hi! I have been drawing on BFK paper for probably a decade and I am looking for an alternative, a paper that would be whiter. I use the white BFK 300 gr that comes in roll and I work in large format with charcoal and dry pastel, involving a lot of erasing and rubbing. I love BKF, but I am on a project where I need a whiter paper, meaning less "cream" or a colder white than the actual "white" of the BFK. Do you have something to suggest? It has to come in roll at last 42 inches wide. Many thanks!

We'd recommend the Stonehenge Polar White 250gsm paper.

It's a brighter white than BFK, is 100% cotton and available in 50" wide rolls. The surface texture to Stonehenge will be a bit smoother than BFK.

Here is a link to more information about Stonehenge:

We'd be happy to send you a sample. Please contact us at info [at] legionpaper.com

You may want to look into Legion Drawing & Framing which is a go to for charcoal drawing. The White is bright and it comes in huge rolls. My only concern is that the surface is softer than other papers which might pill with heavy eraser usage.
