Ask an Expert - Forum > Stonehenge Oil Masking

Hi there,

This has likely been asked before so i apologize for any repetition, but i was unable to find an answer: i recently got a few sheets of stonehenge oil paper to try out, and was just wondering how it holds up to masking? Should i employ a slightly weaker tape/painters tape? Or should any masking tape peel off safely without tearing? Assuming as well that some of it (ie, borders) will be on for a significant period of time (weeks). Thanks for your help!

“Soft tape” by Holbein is what has proven to have less tac and as experienced with our Stonehenge Aqua will have minimal fiber lift if non at all. Blue painter’s tape has too much tac.

The trick is to use a hair blower at a very low heat setting and speed and keep the blower about 6” - 9” from the work and remove the tape slowly off to the side on an angle not straight up or quickly as you would a band-aid.
